Police seize alcohol in gang raid

BUNDABERG police have seized more than $3000 worth of alcohol in a raid on what is believed to be a Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang clubhouse.

Police executed a search warrant on a Jones St business on Friday night after receiving information about the possible sale of alcohol without appropriate liquor licensing permits.

Police inspector Kevin Guteridge said information from the public had led to the search being carried out.

“It's not fair that organisations such as this are quite open with their desire not to comply with the same laws and regulations that the remainder of the community have to,” he said.

Insp Guteridge said some outlaw gangs had positioned themselves as just a group of people that enjoy riding motorbikes and delivering teddy bears to children in hospitals.

“We know from previous history and current information that these types of organisations are associated with a broad range of illicit activity,” Insp Guteridge said.

“As such, there is reasonable expectation from the community that police should be targeting their conduct.”

No charges have been laid, pending further investigation and legal advice.
