Loaded pistol, $7000 cash seized in police traffic stop
AN ALLEGED probationary member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang has been arrested allegedly in possession of a loaded pistol and $7000 in cash during a police traffic stop at West Wyalong.
A sergeant was patrolling the Newell
Highway at West Wyalong shortly before 1am yesterday (Thursday) when he
pulled over a BMW 318i coupe, which was allegedly being driven erratically,
police say.
The officer allegedly located a loaded firearm in the vehicle as well as
ammunition and $7000 cash.
A 47-year-old man from Victoria – who police will allege is a probationary
member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang – has been charged with possess
unauthorised pistol, possess loaded firearm in a public place, not keep
firearm safely, possess unregistered firearm, possess ammunition without
holding licence/permit/or authority, and goods in personal custody suspected
being stolen.
He was refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court.
