LADDERS: Police scaled the fences of the Brentwood Ave, Mt Eden property, around 7.30am.

Armed police have used ladders to raid the Auckland headquarters of the Hells Angels gang this morning.

Police scaled the fences of the Brentwood Ave, Mt Eden property, around 7.30am and neighbours reported hearing two loud bangs soon after.

Police then sealed off the avenue and told residents to stay inside.

Three handcuffed men were brought out and laid on the ground.

There were two vanloads of heavily-armed police at the scene, along with a large group of detectives who entered the compound shortly after 8am.

Next-door neighbour Sophia Blair said the bangs "sounded like gunshots".

"Sometimes they let off fireworks. But these bangs were something more than that," she said.

"At first I thought it was some kind of domestic."

Blair said there was "lots of yelling and crashing".
