Bikers ensure jolly time for kids
By DI THOMAS
A CONVOY of motorcycle riders made the journey between Albury’s Newmarket
Hotel and Wodonga’s Woodland Grove on Saturday to support the Salvation
Army’s Christmas appeal.
Party Unlimited Motorcycle Club held
its 19th Christmas toy run, raising several thousand dollars and receiving
large numbers of toys which will be distributed by the Salvation Army
through Christmas hampers and presents for children.
Members of the Border’s Ulysses
Motorcycle Club joined Party Unlimited for the run which travelled via
Albury’s North St railway bridge, along Young St, Dean St, Wodonga Place and
over the Lincoln Causeway to Wodonga, where a presentation was made to
Salvation Army representatives from both the cities.
The riders all showed their Christmas
cheer as they followed Santa, carrying plenty of stuffed toys and other
wrapped Christmas gifts.
Party Unlimited president Gary Hosie
said between 60 and 100 motorcyclists regularly made the annual run across
the Border.
Mr Hosie said donations of cash and
toys provided the means by which the Salvation Army could offer plenty of
hampers and Christmas gifts to needy families.
“We have had good support including
cash donations from companies includeing Norske Skog and toys donated by
MasterFoods and individuals,” he said.
