Judge orders assault accused not to contact club
An Alice Springs Magistrate has ordered a member of the Fink
Motorcycle Club, who is facing charges of assault and intimidating a
witness, not to contact other members of the group.
Magistrate John Birch has granted bail to 33-year-old Ross Thomas.
Thomas is facing charges in relation to the alleged assault of a
31-year-old man in Alice Springs last month.
He is also facing a charge of attempting to intimidate a witness,
with police alleging he offered the man's wife money to drop the
assault charge.
The court heard Thomas had been sacked from his position at
Woolworths supermarket, where the alleged intimidation took place.
Magistrate Birch granted him bail with a $10,000 bond, on the
condition that Thomas have no contact with nine witnesses or the
Fink Motorcycle Club.
He has ordered Thomas not to return to the residence the alleged
assault took place or to Woolworths in Alice Springs.
He will face court again on November 28.
