Bombala Bike Show revving up
This show keeps getting bigger and bigger ... here's the build-up from the local
rag..
If rows of gleaming bikes, noisy burn-out competitions and a full day and night
of live music was already enough to get you to the Annual Celebration of
Motorcycles, then you had better prepare yourself for much, much more over the
September 16 weekend.
Once again it is expected that thousands of visitors will be swarming into
Bombala for the huge annual event, with all local accommodation houses already
booked out for the festival, which gets kick started on the Friday night.
Here all of our local watering holes will be providing live music for the
evening, while the Bombala RSL Club will be presenting the second-ever
Australian Road Rider Magazine Short Film Festival.
This will have plenty of film buffs and motorcycle lovers absorbed for a good
chunk of the night, and while our pubs and clubs will be overflowing on Friday
evening, so too will be our local eateries.
It is the Saturday that is known as the biggest day of the Annual Celebration of
Motorcycles, however, and from early morning onwards, motorcycles and eager
showgoers will be pouring into the Bombala Exhibition Ground to enjoy the sights
and sounds.
Here they will find rows and rows of motorcycles glistening in the sunshine,
with enthusiasts wandering around admiring the various makes and models that
have been entered into the many categories that the Bombala Motorcycle
Association has thrown open to judging this year.
There will be countless other bikes on show that aren't even entered for
judging, however, with these purely being for the showgoers to drool over as a
huge number of motorcycle companies come along to show their wares.
Don't lose heart, plenty of these shiny new machines will be available for test
rides on the day, and the sea of trade stalls and displays will offer all the
very best information, whether you're after a Harley Davidson or a zappy new
Japanese bike.
Okay, so not all of us are in the market for a motorcycle right now, but there
will be a huge range of stalls set up to offer a variety of goods, with
everything from leatherwork, jewellery and clothing being available, right up to
heated bike seats!
Following the success of last year's arrangements, the Exhibition Hall itself
will also be bustling with stalls of various different kinds, with the BMA happy
to announce that more stallholders than ever are setting up inside and out.
Wandering around all of these attractions, as well as taking in the gripping
trials bike display, is sure to build up an appetite, and no matter what you
crave, it's bound to be on offer at the Annual Celebration of Motorcycles.
The Bombala Rotary Club will of course be back on board to run the kiosk, with
the traditional top quality barbecue being complimented by a series of other
menu choices, including kebabs, chicken burgers, and even a vegetarian choice.
There will be a sprinkling of other foods, such as the bar's famous homemade
soup, also available throughout the festival, while the Bombala Hospital
Auxiliary ladies will offer a very welcome sit down luncheon from within the
Supper Room.
Right, so we've got the bikes, the bike companies, all manner of foods, stalls
and displays, so what's next? Why the music and giveaways of course!
Nothing makes the Annual Celebration of Motorcycles quite as high spirited and
fun as the live music that plays right throughout the day and night at the
Exhibition Ground, with Chill, Black Velvet and Detour keeping the atmosphere
humming.
Add to this a huge range of giveaways being presented by the BMA, and you've got
a really happy crowd, with everyone looking forward to finding out who will bag
the 49cc Mini Chopper that was donated to the BMA by Woodstock Bourbon.
There are stacks of other prizes to be handed out as the event rolls on too,
including a portable DVD player for the Red Faces Competition, while the
trophies presented during the motorcycle judging are truly outstanding.
Beyond all this, the festival will welcome some very special guests, present
some kids entertainment, and host a sprinkling of other attractions.
