Shot teen appears in court
15nov05
A NEWCASTLE teenager who was shot in the face, allegedly by a motorcycle
gang during an altercation, was released from a Queensland hospital today
and taken to court.
Dylan Lee Parsons, 18, pleaded guilty
in Toowoomba Magistrates Court to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, taking
stolen goods into Queensland and stealing.
He was remanded in custody for
sentencing tomorrow.
The court was told Parsons was shot in
an altercation with a motorcycle gang in New South Wales before he and two
others stole a car on Sunday with the intention of driving to Brisbane.
The trio then took a detour to
Toowoomba, stealing $70 worth of fuel from a petrol station at Glen Alpin
south of Stanthorpe, the court was told.
In Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday, Bernd Henry Bryzenski, 24, was
jailed for 18 months and Caroline Mary Puru, 26, received a six-month
sentence, following a police chase after they took Parsons to Toowoomba
Hospital on Sunday.
Queensland Police are still investigating how Parsons was shot but believe
he was injured with a small calibre weapon in an incident that had "occurred
interstate".
After the teenager was admitted to hospital on Sunday night, police were
called in to talk to him and found the trio had arrived in a car stolen in
NSW.
Parsons remained under police guard in hospital until his release today.
Toowoomba's Criminal Investigation branch is working with NSW police to try
and piece together what happened to the teenager.
