Police raid targets bike gang's WA
expansion
Police have raided a bikie clubhouse in a bid to stop a new chapter of one
of the world's largest gangs being established in Western Australia.
Several people are believed to be looking to set up a Perth headquarters of
the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, which has chapters in Asia, Europe and the
eastern states.
The last time an organised street gang, called the Mongrel Mob, tried to
establish itself in Perth, rival bikie gangs carried out shootings and
bombings to prevent it.
The gang response unit has raided several houses and the Outlaws Balga
clubhouse in an effort to disrupt any attempt to establish a new chapter in
WA.
Detective Sergeant Paul Boult says a 41-year-old man has been arrested.
"As a result of these search warrants a very small amount of drugs and a
silencer were located and a number of charges, particularly relating to the
Firearms Act, will be preferred," he said.
