Well the weather was great.....woke up about 5 30 to a bit of cloud, and had a damn cold ride over to the show at 7...but the sun came out and it was brilliant all day. As usual the standard of machines coming in from about 8 30 just amazed me. Managed to sneak my beast over to the dyno this year for what I thought was a disappointing result of 102hp, however apparently they were only taking the motors up to 5000 rpm, whereas ya can go to 6k...so I guess it wasn't too bad...good enough to get Best Stroker on the day...
Dont things always happen when ya don't want em too...I got my come uppance for buying a cheap battery yesterday...had to jump the bloody thing about 3 times, and then get a push at the end of the day. It'd been alright for a few months, but soon as it got a little cooler weather wise, every time I push that button, its hold ya breath and hope. Ho hum..down to Frasers on Tuesday I guess. Update! checked the battery , was gonna chuck it, and it was only loose terminals...amazing how I forget the basics...Ill blame the alcohol years...
We had to keep the VW engined trikes outside this year as they take up too much room, and we had a record 110 entries bike wise, so its still growing slowly...The bands were great, and the stage being a little further away meant I could hear what people were saying to me most of the time...
The local constabulary were there in force for the first time ,complete with sniffer dog , probably due to a little unrest in the Sydney biker community at the moment, but I didn't see or hear of anyone being arrested, so hopefully they just wasted their time all day...Christ they had front row seats at the burnout comp, close enough to get covered in flying tyre, and weren't too far back at the strippers, so we might have ta charge them next time....
Apart from all the large engined ,flash paint ,long frame customs, there were some bloody nice shovels this year...looked like they're making a bit of a comeback in the show scene...
Judging was carried out by a selection of industry names, and thanks to Carlo Agostini, and John from MCA, and Tony Blain from Acme for their efforts. Too much for me choosing between all those magnificent efforts...
The stunt man did his bit eventually, we had to reschedule it due to excessive wind on the track, , but I didnt see it, as I was busy...however the videographer was right on it so hopefully Ill have a clip up sometime...
The day finished off with some young ladies intent on displaying their assets to an appreciative audience, and then finally around 8pm we drew the raffle. Some lucky bugger will be happy when we get hold of them... I was 10 off this time, which is about the closest Ive been...maybe next year...
