Police intercept bikies as they travel through Gladstone
TEN members of the Black Uhlans Motorcycle gang have been intercepted this morning at Gladstone.
Police from Gladstone and Rockhampton intercepted the group, who were riding south in their club colours.
All 10 members were spoken to and were co-operative.
Capricornia District Detective Inspector Shadlow said no offences had been committed but police were able to gather and collate intelligence.
He said it was a traffic-style interception and motorcycle gangs riding en masse could expect to be intercepted in this fashion as the state cracked down on outlaw motorcycle gangs.
The interception followed a similar crackdown in Warwick on Tuesday, when dozens of police officers converged on the Life and Death Motorcycle club.
Again, no offences were detected by police.
So just a discrimitory stop then??!!!
The Black Uhlans are one of four bikie gangs to have set up shop in Gladstone, with a clubhouse at 85 Hanson Rd, in the heart of Gladstone's industrial centre, housing about two dozen members known to police.
Assistant Commissioner for Central region, Mike Condon, last month said bikie gangs were targeting "high disposable income and mining areas to peddle their drugs".
