Bike has had a gremlin for weeks now, ignition intermittently breaking down @ speed.....found Stator plug burnt out & saturated with oil....removed primary inspection cover, fkg ponged.!!...so surmised stator was on th way out even tho metered out ok....ordered new OEM, $159 thank you very much...dealer wanted another $150 for a new regulator too, so thought fk that & ordered one off ebay for $75...

today started taking primary apart to replace stator...luckily managed to get the compensating gear off without having to remove clutch assembly...

 made coupla rotor hooks from an old stainless oven rack & pulled rotor off....

 rotor magnets appeared all ok & secure....

 one stator winding in particular looked pretty well stuffed tho....

 damn, drift a bit too big, chipped a bita paint punching old plug back thru case....dkhead!

 ahhh this is better finishing off pushing plug back thru & then old stator is off....

 you can see th insulation over th 2 wires leading to back of th plug are cracked from heat n age & have allowed oil in to seep in & up into th plug to eventually help burn out th pins.... 

enuf of th bike for th day, hopefully start putting back together with new bits over th w/e sometime when im in th mood.....
