A FORMER head bikie has admitted he flew into a rage and bashed a Gold Coast lifeguard who ordered his girlfriend not to walk her pet dog through the flagged area at North Burleigh beach.

Liborio Di Vita, 35, yesterday told the Southport Magistrates Court he would plead guilty to the assault charge, instead of going through with a committal hearing.

Police have alleged that on May 21 this year the ex-president of the Gold Coast Black Uhlans chapter confronted a council lifeguard and accused him of "having a go'' at his fiancee when she walked her bull terrier through the yellow and red flagged swimming area.

He then allegedly slapped the lifeguard on his head, punched him when he fell down and kicked sand in his face.

The lifeguard was left with a cut to his face and bruising while Di Vita nursed a broken bone in his right hand.

Di Vita is also facing separate assault charges relating to a violent home invasion in January involving an attack on a woman pensioner.

Yesterday in court, solicitor Campbell MacCallum asked the lifeguard assault sentence to be adjourned and mentioned next week alongside the home invasion charges.

It is expected a sentence date will be set for late December or early January.

Di Vita has publicly claimed to have quit the Black Uhlans following the Statewide bikie crackdown, citing police pressure and his plans to marry his long-time girlfriend and start a family.

New squad to crack down on bikie gangs 1:57

A new federal squad has been launched in Victoria to crack down on outlaw bikie gangs

In the past he has cut a gruff figure, with thick facial hair and a habit of rough-housing media outside the court but yesterday he appeared clean-cut and patch free.

He made no comment to the media as he left with his fiancee and was driven off in his Audi.

He will return to court next Thursday.
