Alleged Finks bikie charged with assaulting cyclists in road rage attack at Hope Island, Gold Coast

AN alleged Finks bikie has been charged for assaulting a cyclist in an apparent road rage attack.

The cyclist had to get his ear and face stitched up after the incident at Hope Island on the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

Police say the cyclist was riding his pushbike along Hope Island Road about 8am when a white van almost crashed into him.

Trying to avoid injury, the cyclist hit the passenger side of the van with his palm.

The van driver then allegedly jumped out of his vehicle and knocked the cyclist to the ground and assaulted him.

A 43-year-old man, who is alleged to be a member of the Finks gang, was later charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He's due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.
